07 — Photography
These portraits were shot on film, developed by hand, and printed manually. The colour correction was also done by hand throughout the process, which meant every decision about tone and hue was deliberate and physical rather than a setting on a screen.
The guiding idea behind the project was colour as feeling. Not colour as decoration or accuracy, but colour as something that carries an emotional weight of its own. The way a photograph is developed and corrected changes what it communicates, and working through that process manually gave me direct control over how each image feels rather than just how it looks.
Shooting on film and developing it yourself forces a different kind of attention. There is no instant preview, no easy undo. Each frame is a commitment, and the darkroom work that follows is an extension of that same deliberateness.
